illuminated objects...

regarding this candle, i think matt kahn would say something along the lines of, "and some of you may not realize this, but this piece intimates an art movement called [pause] dada [overenunciated]."

i've been looking at a lot of lighting and can't stop thinking about art 160 projects: illuminated objects, utilitarian lighting devices, pieces where change is a major interest, blahblahblah. i think i will forever more see the world in terms of potential art projects.

more candles from sub-studio:

and who would have thought that corrugated cardboard could do this? giles miller uses "fluting" (alternating the direction of the corrugations) to make these designs:

i wonder if there's more to it than that.

here's a lamp whose angle is adjusted with a magnet on the outside of the belljar... i like how pseudo-scientific it feels with the clinical distance between the lamp and the user.

This is me (Lucy) commenting on your blog. That book out of security envelopes is fantastique. We could totally do that. I have book cloth, and other such supplies. Only I guess we should think of something different to put in it.

This is an illustrator that we looked at in class--total douche who wouldn't give me an interview and I don't really like his finished work, but his sketchbooks are A-MAZING. Seriously. Look at 2002 esp. That's all.
